Should I honestly be surprised anymore? Really?
Another stinker by the Knicks. After leading by double digits for most of the game, they totally fell apart in the final few minutes of the fourth quarter, playing like the same old, same old crap that we're totally used to by now. The Spurs chipped away at the lead, before Michael Finley was left wide open to nail the three and tie the game to head into overtime. The Knicks couldn't find Jamal Crawford, which made them resort to Mardy Collins bricking some UGLY shots that he had no business taking...
On the Knicks side, Fred Jones carried us through the first half. Jones exploded for 15 points, including four three pointers, ending the night with a career high 5 for 10 from downtown, ending the night with 19 points. Yeah, he only mustered up four in the second half. That's another reason why we lost. Jones followed up that nice first half with a huge stinker for a second half. He also bricked a few important late threes at the end of the 4th, and even one in OT, when we really could've used them.
It took awhile for Jamal Crawford to warm up, but it was his 2nd half spark plug that kept the Knicks even alive. And after the Spurs began to notice he was heating up, they double teamed him at every opportunity they could, hounding him and making him pass to someone else, who would freak out and blow an easy shot. Lather, rinse, repeat.
Renaldo Balkman once again showed he can be great when given minutes, chipping in 10 points, 7 rebounds, and key defensive plays and saves. Same for David Lee, who added 14 points and 7 boards himself. Zach Randolph shot poorly, but added 13 rebounds with his 10 points, which is always a welcome contribution. He must've still been zonked from hitting 3 three pointers yesterday, because he hoisted up two bad ones tonight. Wilson Chandler got a start, but didn't do much in 9 minutes, getting quick fouls and scoring 2 points.
I saw Damon Stoudamire for the first time in awhile, and other than not shooting much, he played pretty well, making easy defensive stops. Tim Duncan was Tim Duncan, adding 21 points and 14 rebounds. Duncan didn't do much in the clutch for San Antonio however, actually sometimes leading them TO turnovers. Robert Horry had his best game of the season, going 5 for 6 for 13 points on 3 for 4 from three point range.
The Spurs hero? Other than Finley, it had to be Manu Ginobili. While he didn't shoot particulary well, Manu made MANY key defensive plays, clutch shots, and clutch free throws. Speaking of Finley, he had an excellent game, draining 5 three's, and of course making the huge three pointer with four tenths remaining in the 4th.
Really, why was the guy left open? He's Michael Finley! He's going to hit the wide open trey! Ugh, this game was so winnable, too. The Knicks just fell apart. Again. Let's hope we get a good pick in the draft, because there's really no reason to bother anymore. Seeya around.

Lakers (120) - Knicks (109)
The Knicks continue to surprise and baffle me.
I must confess that I only caught the 2nd half, and the beginning of the first half, so my apologies if my notes are not as concise as expected.
First of all, kudos to Seth of postingandtoasting.com for giving me the plug, that was real nice of him. Hopefully I got a few clicks over to here.
Anyway, onto the game. Despite what the final score may show you, the Knicks were very much into this game throughout the whole game, even leading by eight points with eight minutes to go in the 4th quarter. So what happened? They collapsed again. Mostly thanks to Sasha Vujacic out of nowhere becoming a three point shooting god, with Kobe Bryant adding some huge shots to rip the game away from us.
Nate Robinson was fantastic, this has to honestly be his best game of the season, probably his career. The man played a great game of basketball out there, collecting 22 points and 9 assists, including HUGE three pointers and field goals to put the Knicks up big in the beginning of the 4th. After he got nailed by Sasha though, and got the T, he oddly enough quieted up.
Another big player today was David Lee. Lee had 21 points an 12 BIG rebounds, including some major offensive boards that gave the Knicks tons of second chance opportunities. The guy worked his butt off tonight, plain and simple, and got huge minutes as a reward (And because Eddy Curry got into heavy foul trouble...)
Randolph played okay, had 16 points and 14 rebounds, but it seems that his missed shots late in the 4th were one of the big reasons why we choked big time. We could've used a lot of the EASY buckets he missed.
Kudos to Balkman for hitting his first three of the season!
Ronny Turiaf had a good game for the Lakers, as well. Turiaf, Bynum, Fisher and Farmar are the only guys on that squad I can even tolerate. Lamar Odom (Ugh,) also had a good game for the Lakers.
Just like in the Golden State game, the Knicks had a chance to steal away a victory in the 4th quarter, but just choked it. After Nate Robinson got T'ed up, it's like the team lost its mojo, everyone played like turnover zombies, Crawford clamped up from the field, Nate couldn't even find a shot to take, Randolph missed EASY buckets, and they all forgot to play defense. It seems as if they just gave up halfway into the fourth. Oh well, either way, I can't be too angry (Except at Sasha...) they really did try out there, and before Robinson got T'ed up, they looked like they were going to win the game. Let's see tomorrow, they have The Jazz. Seeya next time.

Warriors (106) - Knicks (104)
I have to admit, the Knicks surprised me tonight.
I only caught the game from the 2nd quarter on, but from what I saw, I really liked what I saw. The Knicks worked their butts off tonight, everything was clicking for the team until their fourth quarter meltdown. Even Q had a nice game, going 6-13 from the field, and 2-5 from 3's. It's games like these that were were EXPECTING out of Q. I really hope his slump ends, I really like him and he plays great basketball, and this slump is really sad to watch.
What was with the three point shooting by both teams? All both teams wanted to do was hoist up three after three. Did you know the Warriors were at one point 2-14 from downtown?! Jeez! Al Harrington just showed me what I've known about him for a LONG time: he's a great offensive threat when he's hot, but you can't rely on him on the defensive end, or if he's in a slump. Tonight was a bad slump. He went 4-13, and 1-5 from 3's. You know, Al, after a while, why not just give up?
It was the Warriors constant misfiring from downtown that led to to Knicks staying in this game. Also, stellar play from Renaldo Balkman, Nate Robinson, and a quietly contributing David Lee helped keep the Knicks in the game. Balkman brought energy, Lee hustle and rebounds, and Nate gave us instant offense, even if he wasn't shooting well tonight. If it weren't for him we would've been stuck in one too many situations.
While we're at it, what was with that fourth quarter meltdown by the Knicks? Seriously, they couldn't even buy a shot. What made it worse was Jamal Crawford. He was hoisting up shots everywhere, and all I heard for the last few minutes of the game was "CLANK. CLANK. CLANK." Seriously Jamal, why must you always hoist up impossible to hit shots instead of driving to the basket late in games? Do you think because you hit one every few games, you can do it all the time magically? When you're 0-7 for three's that means you have to STOP THROWING THEM UP!
Stephen Jackson killed us. That man hit a bunch of hugh three's late in the game, effectively killing us for good. And kudos to Andreis Biedrins, with 26 (!) rebounds. He only averages nine and a half per game, which makes it even more surprising. Good for him.
When is Fred Jones going to be back? I already miss him. Mardy Collins is awful running the offense.
Eddy Curry was barely in the game, but he certainly made the most of it, with 17 points in 18 minutes. Randolph was quiet, and very dissappointing.
Overall, the game was exciting and very down to the wire, I just wish Crawford, Robinson and Randolph wouldn't have missed so many shots. We really should've won this game, the Warriors were playing awful. Oh well, there's other days. The Knicks face the Lakers on Tuesday, which will hopefully be good.

Knicks (113) - Jazz (109)
Phew, what a game.
The Knicks look to finally be back on track. Now on a two game winning streak, they pretty much ran all over the Jazz until the 4th quarter. The first half has to be one of the best first halves this squad has put up in a LONG time. Other than a quiet Jamal Crawford at first, the other Knicks seemed to contribute and put up big numbers. Marbury in particular had 15 points in the first half. Randolph got quiet after a 13 point first quarter, but would score big later on, with some great key defensive rebounds, offensive rebounds, and defense near the end.
Quentin Richardson seems to have FINALLY sort of found his shot: He went 3 for 7 and made VERY critical blocks and steals in the final few minutes of the 4th quarter.
Kudos to Eddy Curry, who had a horrible offensive game, but gave us a nice huge block (Which some may argue was a goaltend, which it sorta does look like... but I'd have to look at it a bit more closely...) down the stretch, which led to a quick 5-0 run with a minute and a half to go.
Over on Utah's side, Deron Williams once again showed me why he's the most underrated guard in the Western Conference. The kid has talent, 26 points and 8 assists, including some huge lay-ups late in the game. Mehmet Okur on the other hand, is ice cold once again. Is this guy going to heat up anytime soon? Looks like putting Paul Millsap in his place is only a formality at this point.
And who's decision was it to have AK-47 hoist up THREE three pointers, all being bricks?
Toss-up on tonight's best player, so I'm going to give Carlos Boozer the award on the Jazz, while Marbury and Randolph share the award for the Knicks. Boozer and Randolph both had double doubles, while Marbury hit many huge clutch shots. Kudos to Crawford for heating up in the second half, and hitting two huge free throws in the 4th quarter.
I'd love to say that there's nowhere to go but up, but please remember that Isiah Thomas is our head coach, James Dolan is our owner, and Isiah is sure to screw up sometime soon.
4-9.
