Knicks (97) - Pistons (101)

Note: this is only for just in cast Barnesgasm puts up his own recap of the game tonight. I will keep my recap here for the sake of not losing my work.

Hey guys, I'm sitting in for Seth today. Great game played by the Knicks, they really put up a gasp great effort and kept it close down the stretch. I like seeing efforts like this. Anyway:

Anyone else find that stupid T-Mobile starting line-up thing to be confusing? It's too... unorganized for me.

Glad to see Chandler get another start. He made a few poor shot choices, but he has tons of potential.

'DOLPH SIGHTING! No points, but he did get one rebound in 9 minutes. Really, Morris? That's all you could do in 9 minutes? You get your freakin' chance and you don't even capatialize! Oh well, there's more chances.

It seems like Eddy Curry has gotten the memo that some people are going to be gone after the off season, because he played like a beast tonight, 23 points and 7-9 from the free throw line!

Marbury was out there watching the team, looking like he'd rather be anywhere but there. Wouldn't blame him. It must suck knowing that Fred Jones was starting in the spot you'd be at normally.

Speaking of Freddie, he had a great shooting night, getting key shots in the 4th, including a big three pointer to keep the Knicks in the game.

Rasheed Wallace was out for the Pistons tonight, so Theo Ratliff started in his place, and proved why he never deserved any of those big money contracts that he got. He blew EASY shots, made stupid turnovers and even got some bad goaltends. Way to impress, Theo. I'm sure Flip Saunders is glad you're his one back-up when 'Sheed gets hurt.

David Lee had a nice double double, 12 points and 15 rebounds. He really has begun to pick it up a lot more lately. Nice to see him playing well, considering he's one of the few Knicks that gave a shit early on.

Crawford made a nice shake and bake move in the 2nd, only for Lee to get his lay-up blocked. Damn, that would've made Sportscenter highlights too.

I'm too used to Amir Johnson having long hair. He looks off without his dreadlocks.

Speaking of off, Tayshaun Prince was anything but that, hitting huge shots down the stretch to put the game away for good. He had a nice night, shooting 9-17 and hitting a huge runner to put them up by 4 with 19 seconds to go.

No idea how he did it, but Richard Hamilton got two quick technicals and got tossed. Jeez, who shit in his Trix? Methinks someone wanted a night off. He also had the same temper tantrum in the triple overtime thriller from 2006, and it cost them the game that time, and almost did tonight.

Renaldo Balkman had one of his worst games in a long time. He had two straight fast breaks, got called for a charge on both of them. He was later called for a goaltend, too. Ouch. Isiah got rid of him after that for a while.

In a funny moment, Mike and Clyde were discussing how the MAAC tournament was continuing on MSG at 10 P.M. live, which I agree is WAY too late for those poor kids. Clyde said, in typical Clyde fashion "When do those kids study?!"... on second thought, you had to be there.

Both Crawford and Nate got banged up in the game. Crawford left for a short while due to something involving his shoulder, and Nate was limping for the final few minutes of the game. Let's hope it doesn't mean anything bad...

The Knicks kept getting SO close to tying the game and overtaking the lead, but then they'd fall apart again. They'd go on 10-0 runs, but then go ice cold. It's frustrating, a bit in a way.

Malik Rose scored 9 points in 8 minutes, including a three pointer! WTF?!

No Walter Herrmann sighting, therefore JoshL is not happy. I need my three point shooting Fabio fix, DAMNIT!

All in all, the Knicks played great, just fell apart at the end and could never fully gain momentum. Oh well, one more extra chance at gaining Derreck Rose, so no complaints here. See you guys later!

Lakers (120) - Knicks (109)

The Knicks continue to surprise and baffle me.

I must confess that I only caught the 2nd half, and the beginning of the first half, so my apologies if my notes are not as concise as expected.

First of all, kudos to Seth of postingandtoasting.com for giving me the plug, that was real nice of him. Hopefully I got a few clicks over to here.

Anyway, onto the game. Despite what the final score may show you, the Knicks were very much into this game throughout the whole game, even leading by eight points with eight minutes to go in the 4th quarter. So what happened? They collapsed again. Mostly thanks to Sasha Vujacic out of nowhere becoming a three point shooting god, with Kobe Bryant adding some huge shots to rip the game away from us.

Nate Robinson was fantastic, this has to honestly be his best game of the season, probably his career. The man played a great game of basketball out there, collecting 22 points and 9 assists, including HUGE three pointers and field goals to put the Knicks up big in the beginning of the 4th. After he got nailed by Sasha though, and got the T, he oddly enough quieted up.

Another big player today was David Lee. Lee had 21 points an 12 BIG rebounds, including some major offensive boards that gave the Knicks tons of second chance opportunities. The guy worked his butt off tonight, plain and simple, and got huge minutes as a reward (And because Eddy Curry got into heavy foul trouble...)

Randolph played okay, had 16 points and 14 rebounds, but it seems that his missed shots late in the 4th were one of the big reasons why we choked big time. We could've used a lot of the EASY buckets he missed.

Kudos to Balkman for hitting his first three of the season!

Ronny Turiaf had a good game for the Lakers, as well. Turiaf, Bynum, Fisher and Farmar are the only guys on that squad I can even tolerate. Lamar Odom (Ugh,) also had a good game for the Lakers.

Just like in the Golden State game, the Knicks had a chance to steal away a victory in the 4th quarter, but just choked it. After Nate Robinson got T'ed up, it's like the team lost its mojo, everyone played like turnover zombies, Crawford clamped up from the field, Nate couldn't even find a shot to take, Randolph missed EASY buckets, and they all forgot to play defense. It seems as if they just gave up halfway into the fourth. Oh well, either way, I can't be too angry (Except at Sasha...) they really did try out there, and before Robinson got T'ed up, they looked like they were going to win the game. Let's see tomorrow, they have The Jazz. Seeya next time.

Knicks (113) - Jazz (109)

Phew, what a game.

The Knicks look to finally be back on track. Now on a two game winning streak, they pretty much ran all over the Jazz until the 4th quarter. The first half has to be one of the best first halves this squad has put up in a LONG time. Other than a quiet Jamal Crawford at first, the other Knicks seemed to contribute and put up big numbers. Marbury in particular had 15 points in the first half. Randolph got quiet after a 13 point first quarter, but would score big later on, with some great key defensive rebounds, offensive rebounds, and defense near the end.

Quentin Richardson seems to have FINALLY sort of found his shot: He went 3 for 7 and made VERY critical blocks and steals in the final few minutes of the 4th quarter.

Kudos to Eddy Curry, who had a horrible offensive game, but gave us a nice huge block (Which some may argue was a goaltend, which it sorta does look like... but I'd have to look at it a bit more closely...) down the stretch, which led to a quick 5-0 run with a minute and a half to go.

Over on Utah's side, Deron Williams once again showed me why he's the most underrated guard in the Western Conference. The kid has talent, 26 points and 8 assists, including some huge lay-ups late in the game. Mehmet Okur on the other hand, is ice cold once again. Is this guy going to heat up anytime soon? Looks like putting Paul Millsap in his place is only a formality at this point.

And who's decision was it to have AK-47 hoist up THREE three pointers, all being bricks?

Toss-up on tonight's best player, so I'm going to give Carlos Boozer the award on the Jazz, while Marbury and Randolph share the award for the Knicks. Boozer and Randolph both had double doubles, while Marbury hit many huge clutch shots. Kudos to Crawford for heating up in the second half, and hitting two huge free throws in the 4th quarter.

I'd love to say that there's nowhere to go but up, but please remember that Isiah Thomas is our head coach, James Dolan is our owner, and Isiah is sure to screw up sometime soon.

4-9.
